March In Massachusetts
April 2, 2007

Page 1 / 2

We had three movie nights. First night we saw "One Night With The King." Second one was a documentary on the Grand Canyon (by ICR), and the third was "Nicholas Nickleby." I'm so used to having tons of space around me whenever I watch a film ... but at the Thomas', space is a hot commodity. lol, but I loved it. Here you can see Marscel kindly left me some room to his left.

You know, Melissa, with your hair high like that, you sorta resemble the bride of Frank ... incense.

All right! Tasty tortilla bowl-type-things with meat and lettuce and all kinds of goodies inside!

In the Thomas household, table manners are an option.

I have no idea why this made it to my blog. Michael just needed to be seen again.

Out on the set. They both look pretty focused.

I think this is enough of a sneak peak.

Micaiah looks pretty cool sporting the Jordan Rivera wig.

Out for some frisbee. We'll just assume Micaiah caught it here.

Go, Mrs. T! (am I in trouble for calling you that?)

Pretty graceful there, Melissa.

Between Austin Crowe takes (uh oh, I've said too much), I take a moment of respite upon my bed in my quaint little New England bedroom.

The Flynns arrive! Wait a minute, what in the world are you guys wearing!? NO!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHH!!!! Mr. Flynn sports Moria's wig while bearing his chest to reveal a Moria t-shirt! Could someone please dig a hole and hide me there until they leave? :-)

Love that smile, Mr. Flynn. Yours isn't too shabby either, Melanie.

Ok, now this goes against all laws of science itself, and I think my dad would agree with me on this. It's genetically impossible for a true INTJ to come out in public wearing a Moria wig. This photograph alone debunks Brain Typing completely.

Mrs. Flynn is horrified.

The next generation of Austin Crowe fans.

Farewell, fair Flynns! Come back again! (in about 20 years) lol, I hope you know I'm kidding. :-)

*sniff*. It's time to leave. One last ride in the family van. If there's one word to describe the Thomas' ... well, you can't describe the Thomas' with one word. But if I had to choose one that was most appropriate, it's "Thoughtful." What family takes everyone along to simply drop you off at the airport (which is almost an hour away)? You guys are the best. Thank you SO MUCH for a wonderful week. I'm in your debt.

So you thought I'd travel without taking a picture of at least one person I found to be interesting, weird, or just plain psychotic? Course not. These guys were pretty cool. Just gotta love their hair and style of clothes. Yes, it is in fact safe to say that they're all ENTPs. Gotta love em.

Reading and listening to tunes on the plane. Jordan, you're posing. Be quiet. You haven't spoken this entire blog entry and you're not about to start now. Anyway, a couple things to touch upon here. First ... Melanie. As you can see, I have my headphones on, and at that time I happened to be listening to Josh Groban's "Closer." To be even more specific, the song "Broken Vow." I remember you telling Matthew that you didn't want him listening to that song cause it was about a guy (or him, Josh Groban) letting go of some girl ... or, in essence, dumping her. Well, I hate to say this (actually I really like to say it), but you're wrong. Listen carefully to the words. The song is about the girl dumping HIM. He's the faithful one. Listen to how it starts ... "Tell me his name. I want to know the way he looks and where you go. I need to see his face, I need to understand why you and I came to an end." So, the guy is the faithful one, and he manages to "keep, somehow, more than a broken vow." Therefore, Matthew, you have my express permission to listen to that song whenever and for however long you wish. (with your parents permission too, of course) :-D

Melissa ... you probably recognize that book I'm holding. That's the one I was talking to you about in the van. I was wrong, though. It's called, "LONG Journey Home." I went to get my earphones in my backpack when I stumbled upon it. I had totally forgotten that I had packed it before I left in case I had some downtime to read (would like to have shown it to you). Anyway, I don't know if it's a book that you'd necessarily like, but it spoke to me. Anyway everyone, it's written by Os Guinness who was born in China and educated in England. In a nutshell, it's full of stories and quotes and follows the lives of great leaders and philosophers in the past who tried to find meaning in life outside of Christ, but couldn't. It also follows, however, the lives of those who did in fact find it in Christ. I would highly recommend it as a gift for a non-believing friend or loved one, but also even those who are Christians. It assumes no faith in the reader, and eventually points the way to Christianity. I read it in Hawaii while I was going through some particular struggles, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. That's all I have to say about it for now, but here are just a few quotes that I particularly liked.

"When I look back at my past and think how much time I wasted on nothing, how much time has been lost in futilities, errors, laziness, incapacity to live; how little I appreciate it, how many times I sinned against my heart and soul - then my heart bleeds. Life is a gift." - Dostoevsky, after the reprieve of his scheduled execution in St. Petersburg's Semenovsky Square, 1849.

"The worst moment for an atheist is when he is genuinely thankful, but has nobody to thank." - Dante Gabriel Rossetti

"Bless you, prison! I hate to think what sort of writer I would have become if I had not been put inside."
- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Oak and the Calf

"Modern man is drinking and drugging himself out of awareness, or he spends his time shopping, which is the same thing." - Ernest Becker, Psychologist

I especially like this one ...

"I am convinced that nobody in the world believes he must die. Only an instant before death, he doesn't believe in it. How could he? He lives, which is fact, and everything in him lives, and still a fraction of a second before death he lives, and in no way can he be conscious of death." - Alberto Giacometti, Sculptor and Artist

So I arrive at the airport after a full week of acclaim and stardom ... and nobody's here. Nobody answers their cell phone, and nobody cares to call mine. What's the deal? I go from fame ... to lame. Don't these obnoxious teenagers behind me waiting for their buses for Camp Kanakuk know who I am!? I'm Brad Steele! Don't you recognize me? Doesn't anybody hear me? Doesn't anybody care? Well, it was a great lesson in humility, and Jeremy eventually arrived about a half hour later (he had a good excuse). This worked out too perfectly. Literally right after this picture was taken, my camera ran out of battery.

And thus ends my adventure. As always, thank you for sharing it with me, and thanks for stopping by.
