Man, you know, you go to all these swank restaurants with, yeah, good food ... when at the end of your trip you find a little joint on a strip called Mermaid Cafe that has food that totally ROCKS. We're talking wraps with fresh Ahi and pickled pink ginger and rice and wasabi and nori. I'm telling you, it was awesome, and for a lot less money.

"See for yourself." (Napoleon)

All right. It's time for a trek in search of the Queen's Bath, I guess where ancient Hawaiian royals used to bathe or something.

"Uhh ... is this is it?" We weren't sure. It kinda looked like the picture in our guidebook, but kinda didn't, so we just swam in it just in case it really was the real thing. Kinda shallow, and kinda ... boring.

"Oh baby, this is the life!"

"Dude, I'm outta here."

"Would you mind taking our picture? Thanks."

Oh wait, here it is. lol, after spending an hour or so at the wrong place, we finally spotted some people going in a different direction and followed them. Lo and behold, the actual Queen's Bath, with a few too many people, namely children, swimming in it for our taste. I won't go into details.

"Welcome to Jurassic Park."

Whoa, this must be a Photoshop job or something. No, that IS actually me cooking burgers, my friend. I just chatted with a guy there who showed me the ropes, and it was smooth sailing from there. You know, before I was married, whenever I wanted to impress a girl, I just gave her that smile.

How bout a little mango fandango to go with our mealio.

Lovely.

So where are we now? The Smith Botanical Garden. Lots of peacocks. Lots of em.

A cutie on the bridge.

Beauty.

Beauty.

Handsome guy.

Meliss upholds her tradition of kissing big statues with faces (see the archives of Michael's blog).

Coconuts! Have to be careful. These things drop like every few hours.

Last peacock pic. I promise. Just look at that blue!

This could probably work for some kind of advertisement ... for some low-cost, cheesy shirt brand.

Jackfruit.

This car was awesome! All nestled in the jungle like something from a movie.

Starfruit. Pretty good stuff when ripe.

Meliss argues with a bird of paradise. The thing wouldn't shut up.

Umm ... next picture ...

Ok ... where are we going now? Kipu falls, my friends. Remember my old blog entry from our last trip to Kauai? To get to the falls you have to go through some pretty cool undergrowth.

And I'm off! Such a thrill.

Awesome pic, Meliss.

I suddenly jump out of the car. Something sweet grows along the roadway.

Passionfruit. I love passionfruit!

You think you've seen it all towards the end of your trip, until you spot something like this. Spectacular.

That night we stopped by a Panda Express for some take-out MSG-free Chinese food. Get some drinks, pull out some chairs ...

... and you have yourself a Hawaiian dinner you'll never forget.

Blessed with another incredible sunset.

Meliss just couldn't get enough of the plumeria.

Her engagement and wedding ring.

Just a quick picture to show what we had for desert. Meliss made some semi-healthy chocolate brownies that were to DIE FOR.

How bout a little kayaking?

Our tour guide. Very nice lady, but so unbelievably New Age it was stomach-turning.

This was like one of the oldest mango trees on the island. I just asked Meliss and she says it was something like 300 to 1,000 years old. Thanks Meliss.

Hibiscus. Everywhere, and so gorgeous.

Ok, I like just went to my old blog entry to see the name of this falls, cause I can't remember it's name ... and my old blog entry says, "I can't remember the name of this falls." So there you go.

"Would you mind taking our picture? Thanks." (you're probably pretty sick of this by now)

Out to dinner again. Look at that indoor backdrop. Their salad bar was awesome.

Meliss was the postcard maniac. I think I wrote like ... one.

And finally on the last day of our departure ... another botanical garden! Na' Aina Kai, or something like that. Very beautiful, and the couple who made it also put statues throughout the whole grounds.

Like this one.

And this one.

Beautiful ponds.

And mazes.

These hanging plants looked like they were hand-painted.

Our tour guide. What a beauty.

This one was interesting. The sculptor sculpted himself as a young boy and then himself as an old man while incorporating his love for fishing.

With only a couple hours left before heading to the airport, Meliss and I jumped into the sea for one last swim. And yes, we wrote our names in the sand as a final farewell to this beloved island.
What a trip, and thank you for sharing it with us. The Lord bless you!
